On behalf of Ken Lecompte and Brian Carr, I'm thrilled to announce that
GAMUT has a few new members in the group. Our new bassist James
Brazeau jumps back into the band life after taking a short sabbatical
from music! He will bring plenty of showmanship to the band, having
played the part of Gene Simmons in a Kiss tribute act, as well as a Van
Halen tribute! Our newest member Tony Choy is no stranger to the music
scene, having played with the local band Helium, as well as his current
tribute act Blizzard (OZZY). He will also be playing with our Alice Cooper
tribute mAlice & Monsters. Our newest members will be playing with
us March 1st at The Carleton Tavern. We hope you can make it!

HELLO GAMUT GANG!!
It has been a while since our last news update and
there has been lots of activity since Oct 2011...
With the return of GAMUT's co-founder and drummer,
Chris, last May of 2011, started the ball rolling bringing
back Joe on guitar who started with GAMUT back in 2001
but took a couple years off to take care of some health
issues and is now back and he is getting stronger every
day! So here we were with Ken (vox) Chris (drums) Joe
(guitar) and existing 4th year member on Bass, Fred
who also left the band for a short time to finish his
degree and now a succesful graphic writing career...
all back with GAMUT! things are looking GREAT!!!!
We had an ALICE COOPER TRIBUTE SHOW coming
up and we still had one long time GAMUT member
missing, Brian... who was dabbling with a couple of
other bands so we gave him a call and we only spoke
of the ALICE show... Brian agreed to come and be part
of that show being a HUGE ALICE COOPER FAN. Brian
had also left GAMUT a year or so earlier... It took about
45 min of jamming together before we all said...while
smiling... this is GAMUT and we should be playing
together always!!
All members great musicians separately, but together
PURE CHEMISTRY!! Brian was back too!!!!!
GAMUT, with its original line up, has now played a pile
of shows together and we are revamping our song list
to get the WOW!! factor... so every song is a winner!
The very best in classic rock... the stuff you want to hear...
the songs that make you sing to and dance to and the
songs that make you say WOW! that's a great song you
just don't hear anymore unless you come and see
GAMUT'
We plan on running through the Ottawa music venues
packing a party of music!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this
and for all the support and patience you have shown us...
THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!
|
Just like to thank everyone that came out on the weekend...The Carleton
Tavern was packed tight and we had a fantastic night doing our
ALICE COOPER SHOW for you!!! Then Saturday we played out
in Luskville and WOW! what a party it was!!!! The old church was
just stuffed to the max with ghoulish monsters and it was hopping all night
long!!! Halloween is a big time of year for GAMUT and we want to thank
everyone for the support you have given us all year long and to let you
know we have some great new stuff coming in the new year...so thank
you, thank you, thank you all so much!!! On a personal note we also
would like to welcome back Brian Carr to the band , and a big welcome
to our new addition on guitar Greg Werthman to share guitar duties with
Brian!! 2012 will bring lots of exciting energy to our show and we can't
wait to bring to you!! THANKS AGAIN!!!
|
We'd like to take this oppurtunity to thank Lo for all his hard
work in the past year with GAMUT and mAlice & Monsters...
he is unableto continue with GAMUT's busy schedule due to
his own busy career as a professor at Ottawa University and
has recently moved on to another local classic rock band
called the 'DeeVanZ Band'...we wish him all the best and on
going friendship with Lo will continue.
Lo is a fantastic guitarist and made our band better, as he
will with his new band!! Dr. Lo, we'll be watching you!!!!!
|
We have been getting asked how much tickets are to get into the
Arnprior Fair for Aug 5th...tickets are $8 before 5pm and $10
after 5pm.... This is our second year at the Arnprior Fair...
we're looking forward to opening for Platinum Blonde this
Friday!!!! It's going to be a FUN night!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope to see you there!!!!!!
|
Gamut will be opening up for Platinum Blonde @ the Arnprior Fair
(10 Galvin St, Arnprior Ont)
Platinum Blonde were one of Canada's biggest acts in the 80's and early
90's. They were inducted into the Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry
Hall of Fame in 2010. Unfortunately our guitarist Lo will not be on stage
with us that night, as he will be on his own version of European Vacation!!!
For one night only, Gamut's original guitarist Joe Ovington will man the
axe for us. This is an awesome gig for us and we hope as many of you
can come out to the show!!!

|
|
|
We would like to announce that due to circumstances and situations
out of both GAMUT and our friend Robin's control, that Robin will
not be with us, but will not be the last we will see of him as he will
be with us from time to time and our love and friendship continues
with him... on a positive note we are very very excited and happy
to welcome the return of Chris Lecompte the original drummer
and co founder of GAMUT!!
Back after an almost 3 year absence... he has been busy
playing withother projects ( UNGLUED STP tribute- UNION JACK
British tribute, and a continuing original project called COSMIC PUSH)
we werevery pleased he was available ,excited and agreed to return
to his throne , and now with the recent addition of Allan Wilmore on
keyboards GAMUT will ROCK better than ever , look out for some
FANTASTIC things to come!!!!!

What a week! The Russell Fair was a great night. After the demolition
derby, we were able to inflict some damage with our Fenders. The
crowd was enthusiastic and kept the energy level peaking for the
entire evening.
As an encore, we brought our Alice Cooper tribute to the Lonestar for a
Wednesday tribute band show. The acoustic act After The Rain got the
evening rolling, and Mothership (formerly Fat Cats) brought their Led
Zeppelin Tribute to the stage. If you are a Zep fan, you will be
obliterated by the pure talent and the accuracy of their show.
If you are not a Zep fan, see these guys and you will become one.
The night ended with Alice, with all the mayhem a
Cooper show requires.
Great crowd, great sound provided by Ben, and as always, a fantastic
experience. Kudos to Cady who excelled in her debut as Nurse Kitty/
temptress/ murderer and full-fledged Monster. The show will continue
to grow. We are adding additional songs and bigger and better
theatrics, such as..........
|
We made our way out to the LUCKY LOON campground near
Brockville, where we had our good friend, Faron Young join the band.
Faron is a FANTASTIC! country singer that is in the process of
forming a new band.GAMUT really showed their versatility...
FRED and ROBIN with FARON on vocals stormed through the
night with some great country
tunes and the crowd was loving it so much, I just stayed the
heck out of it and enjoyed the night with family and friends.
A great night it was!!!
Thanks again to FARON YOUNG for playing that night...
keep an ear out for this fantastic Ottawa performer...
|
This past Saturday we played in Limoges at a back yard field party
and we had a blast! The folks, as always, were so nice and
great hosts...we felt very welcome.
There was this 14 year old girl that came up and asked if she could
play a song on her guitar between our sets. She played a bunch of
her own songs she wrote, also a few cover tunes. She had so much
maturity for her age and her voice...fantastic!! She sang without
music twice and she didn't need it, wow!! Look for this girl in the
years to come RHIANNA HEINZ is her name and she is looking for
young musicians to form a band. If anyone knows some young
talent looking to start the same, she is your ticket to ride!!She will
be a Star!!! nice job Rhianna Heinz...
Thanks to all again for the great night!!!
|
Saturday August 6th we were honored to open the show for Canadian
rock legend APRIL WINE at the Arnprior fair, it was a great night!!!! The
crowd made us feel VERY appreciated throughout our set and a BIG
THANKS to all the familiar faces that made their way out to Arnprior to
see the show. You're always so supportive and it truly makes a difference.
It was also a fantastic and rewarding feeling for us with the response that
we received from the field full of people who had never heard us perform
and they made us feel they were as happy as we were to be there... so
thank you all so much!!!! And thank you Lynn Grinstead (entertainment
director)who was so nice to us and made us feel welcome and comfortable
throughout the day and night and to Shayne Presley on the sound board,
thank you for your hard work
Gamut thanks all of you and we look forward to returning next year......

|
After a short search for a bassist we were very happy and
pleasantly surprised to hear that our old friend and ex
band mate has completed the important obligations
that took him out of the band scene for a while.
We are proud of his accomplishments,
and happy to hear he that is ready to come back.
We are very pleased to announce the return of Fred
Hackett as Gamut's bassist. After bettering and securing
his future for his family, the timing couldn't be
better for his return.
Fred's eagerness, combined with his talent and wit
will be a hugeaddition to the band.
His 240 Pound Bass rig was not missed.
He was... Welcome back Fred!!

THE PHOENIX IN BROCKVILLE
|
We are very happy to announce the union of two people... Patty and Frank
Sellars!!! Our first AliceCooper/GAMUT wedding celebration and it was a
blast!!!!
An outside stage fit for Alice himself and a crowd, ages 7 to 70 that couldn't
get enough...
The Alice set was well received and we felt their enthusiasm as we took them
through the nightmare...and then we came back out with our great
mix of dance tunes and had a great celebration into the wee hours of
the morning.
Thanks to Patty and Frank for having us as part of your day and
thanks to all your great guests for your kind words!!!
|
We played the Carleton Tavern on May 14th... our 2 IN 1 show with our
Alice Cooper Tribute followed by 2 sets of Rock & Roll Classics after many
requests to bring back our Alice Cooper show...
The night was amazing and the crowd was extremely appreciative!!!!
Especially
when our surprise guest (Robin's brother), Peter Fredette (from the Kim
Mitchell Band) rocked out a few songs with us...what a treat it was for the
crowd and for GAMUT!! We look forward to his next appearance with GAMUT!
We'll try to keep you posted...
Thanks to the packed house (again) at the Carleton Tavern, always a pleasure
to play for one of Ottawa's historical pubs
Thanks to our Mark Flynn for capturing these memories...
|
We played a show at the Metcalfe Curling Arena last night...
their theme was the 1970's disco era...as you walked into the
room, you felt like you stepped back in time...the staff
there did a fantastic job at capturing all the details of the
times...it was a huge success!!!
Thank you to Rick Smith for suggesting our band and to
all the staff being so helpful. We very much enjoyed
performing for the fine people of Metcalfe.
|
We had a fantastic weekend in Brockville at The Phoenix!!!!!!! The
staff made us feel really welcome and the crowd there really does ROCK...
the staff-the crowd-our mix of tunes made a GREAT COMBO!!!!!!!
Thanks John and Brittany, we look forward to our return and future
relationship with all the great folks from ThePhoenix...
AMAZING NIGHT!!
We thank you for the awesome feedback!!

GAMUT would like to wish our friend Fred all the best... Fred will be moving
on to other projects and commitments, we thank him for his input in this band
over the past year. We played a lot of gigs and had a ton of giggles and we
are happy to have had him as a part of our team. We wish you all the best
in your future endeavors and hope you're able to once again hit the Ottawa
stages in the near future.
Lets wish a great guy and bass player all the best... go get'em Fred !!!!...

As usual, The Carleton Tavern is always a fantastic place to play

their enthusiasm and look forward to seeing you next time!!!
